Challenger Jason Moore trailed with 29.9%.<\/p>\n<p>Incumbent Keith Smith, who was running unopposed, retained his seat for District 2 with 97.6% of the vote.<\/p>\n<p>Garrard was appointed to the school board in June 2024 after former director Deborah Kilgore resigned. Before serving on the school board, he worked in public schools for 42 years. Garrard has two children who graduated from Edmonds-Woodway High School. His campaign focused on protecting public education, advocating for state funding and fostering inclusivity.<\/p>\n<p>Moore is a U.S. Navy veteran and a small-business owner in the carpentry industry. His campaign focused on improving safety by reinstating school resource officers, increasing parental involvement and banning transgender girls from competing in girls&rsquo; sports.<\/p>\n<p>As of Tuesday, Garrard had raised $12,391 for his campaign, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pdc.wa.gov\/political-disclosure-reporting-data\/browse-search-data\/candidates\/3322058\" target=\"_blank\">state filings <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pdc.wa.gov\/political-disclosure-reporting-data\/browse-search-data\/candidates\/3322058\" target=\"_blank\">show<\/a>. Moore filed as a mini-reporting campaign, so he was not required to report contributions or expenditures unless they exceeded $7,000, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pdc.wa.gov\/political-disclosure-reporting-data\/browse-search-data\/candidates\/3335477\" target=\"_blank\">state filings <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pdc.wa.gov\/political-disclosure-reporting-data\/browse-search-data\/candidates\/3335477\" target=\"_blank\">show<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The county will continue counting ballots throughout the week and will certify election results Nov. 25.
